One of My Early Writing Projects – 1993

This writing assignment was a fun and exciting project in which I was
selected to participate on after submitting four stories based on a list of keywords
related to skills which employers were looking for from young people as they
entered the workforce.

Sonoma County Business and Education Roundtable was searching for writers to
participate in an ambitious project to create an educational comic book which
would bridge the gap between employers’ expectations and the aspirations of
young minds. They accepted two of my four stories because I was able to cram
the most key words into the story compared to the other writers and it still
read naturally.

I think they wanted all four of my stories, but the idea was to have
multiple artists involved, so they needed more than one writer listed. MY
OPINION ONLY but I do think all four of my stories were great compared to the
other writers.

The Roundtable worked with educators and students to develop the Teacher’s
lesson plans for using this comic book in a fun and educational way.

Note: Since two of the 4 stories in this comic book were not written by me, I removed them since I do not have the copyrights for them. They paid me in free copies of the comic book. I would have done it for free just to have the opportunity to work these well-known illustrators.
